Mayas 2012

According to the Mayans, the end of the world is near. Their predictions say that we have exactly 2 months left, so we should start grabbing some of our old consoles, or some emulator, and start remembering one of those games we will never forget. What are you saying? You wouldn’t know which one to choose? Well, just to make it easier for you here’s a list of 10 games you should have played in your lifetime. Of course there are many more we would have loved to place in the list, but at least we have tried to make an assorted selection. There you go!!!

Galaxian

Galaxian

Improved version of Space Invaders in which, besides the original’s features, spaceships tried to crash on you like some sort of kamikaze. This game by Namco has become a classic by its own merits. Didn’t you love so much destroying the white spaceship when it tried to land on you?

The Legend of Zelda

The Legend Of Zelda

What can we say about this amazing game for the NES, considered the precursor of role games. Although it couldn’t miss our list, maybe the end of the world will happen and you still haven’t finished the game, due to its vast map and countless puzzles, so you’re already getting late!!!

Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario Bros

Rings a bell, right? Absolutely, it’s the incomparable Super Mario Bros. Join Mario the plumber and his brother Luigi to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser, king of the koopas. Maybe you’ll get to do it eight different levels and a variety of monsters later!!!

Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong

We could already see this classic in our compilation about platform games. How many coins have we spent on this arcade machine, jumping burning barrels and climbing ladders, trying to get to the top to rescue our beloved Princess Peach… yet again!!!

Dragon’s Lair

Dragon's Lair

Stunned we got when we saw this game for the very first time. Those amazing graphics in the most pure cartoon style, those frenzied runs avoiding death… Maybe the gameplay wasn’t really something else, but of course it’s worth playing it again from beginning to end.

Knight Lore

Knight Lore

One of the mythical games with isometric view, this was the third game of the Sabre Man saga, preceded by Sabre Wulf and Underwurlde. For us, it’s the best and most complete of them, in which we have to find the necessary ingredients to make a potion for healing us from the curse of becoming a wolf at night.

Jet Set Willy

Jet Set Willy

Second part for Manic Miner, which was also featured in our history of platform games. After getting rich with the treasures he found in Manic Miner, our miner Willy has to tidy all the pieces of junk spread through the mansion after a megaparty, so his wife will let hem go to sleep.

Pacman

Pacman

Who has ever played this game? And simple as it seems, we always get hooked trying to eat all the dots while we avoid the evil ghosts. Classic of classics, we are so fond of it that we couldn’t resist it being a part of our RetroGamers logo!!!

Maniac Mansion

Maniac Mansion

The company LucasFilms hit the nail on the head when they created this game: worldwide acknowledgement, pioneering game for graphic adventures, amazing gameplay, several possible endings, ability to choose between different characters… All you can wish for in a graphic adventure, and more!!!

Ghosts’n Goblins

Ghosts'n Goblins

And last but not least, the incomparable Ghosts’n Goblins. This platform games, created by Capcom, outnumbered sales records (and coins-spent-in-arcade-machines records), and no wonder: maximum gameplay, super detailed graphics, tension to the limit… you just can’t stop playing!!!

Enjoy them all, RetroGamers!!!
